Ciao Software Serves Local Community
Ciao chosen as "official point-of-sale" system for 22nd Annual Taste of Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA May 29, 2009 -- Ciao Systems Inc., an Arlington, VA-based point-of-sale (POS) software development company, partnered last week with dozens of local businesses, restaurants and community organizations to help host Arlington's largest single day event of the year, the Taste of Arlington. Ciao provided point-of-sale and credit card processing for the philanthropic event featuring food samples from over 40 local restaurants which attracted over 15,000 attendees.

Using four Ciao workstations and a wireless connection donated by Panera Bread, Ciao Software successfully processed over 1,200 sales transactions in only three hours. Volunteers from local banks including M&T Bank were put on the front lines to handle all of the credit card transactions using Ciao's POS system. "The Ciao workstations provided for the credit card sales were just phenomenal," said Langley Munoz, Relationship Manager, M&T Bank. "We were amazed at how easy and fast it was to complete each sale. In my role at M&T Bank, I work with quite a few restaurants and small retail businesses and I have to say that I would suggest your product to them hands down."

Ciao Systems was approached by Julie Mangis, Executive Director of the Ballston-Virginia Square Partnership, to serve as the Taste of Arlington's official point-of-sale and credit card processing system. "At such a large scale event it is vital to have a reliable and efficient point-of-sale system. Ciao exceeded our expectations - we could not have moved as many people through the sales lines without their system. We look forward to working with them again next year," she said.

Proceeds from the Taste of Arlington will benefit Community Residences, a local non-profit organization committed to assisting in the independent living of disabled residents. Ciao Systems plans to participate in next year's Taste of Arlington event and deepen its relationships with the community and local business owners.
